Book 2 of The Trials of the Clans Trilogy continues the story of

Hellion and Fire in The Stormrider

Dagor is safe and the Clans prepare for their journey home. There are lives to be healed and punishments for treachery must be administered. But Hellion’s healing requires something that no skilled Clan healer can purge. He must return to Var and the witch Latrine for salvation.

There, he learns the fates of two lost tribes. Setting out to find them, the lands across the river are suddenly plunged into contention. But their Goddess forbids the Clans to intervene.

Andaria must be purged!

Fire waits nervously for Hellion’s return. Across the river, refugees begin to gather. Fire knows that she must take control. She must decide when she can no longer heed the words of her Goddess while the screams of the innocent resound. She must decide when to let her own voice roar defiantly.

The enemy masses at the bridge while fires fill the skies with smoke. Hellion is close but trapped between the army and a raging torrent. Behind her, Fire has amassed an army of her own, but it is being attacked from all sides.

Hellion can wait no longer. The bridge will be destroyed soon. He must ride now or be left behind in the enemy’s lair…

“You are both correct,” came a voice from the doorway. “And for this reason, I will take the decision from you all. The men will not be allowed to cross the river. Andaria and all who inhabit it, native and invader alike will perish.”

All eyes turned towards the voice, and they saw a tall man with a shock of long white hair standing there, accompanied by a woman, another man, and the wolf Lakota.

“Who says you have a say human?” queried Gladiator. “This is a clan matter, and you don’t appear to be from any clan.”

Tiger could not help but smile a bit at the contrariness of the lion. Even though the stranger was agreeing with him, the lion’s mistrust of men would cause him to switch sides in the blink of an eye.
