The final book in The Trial of the Clan Trilogy and the ending of
Hellion and Fire's tale of love, honor, and family
Twenty years have passed since that day on the bridge. The Clans are enjoying peace as the Earth Mother said they would.
They are also keeping a watch on the seas.
Now, as the hour of destinies arrives, enemies rise again, coming forth from all sides.
As the next generation of leaders emerges in the clans, Hellion and Fire must face battles on all sides as the ugly specter of bigotry rises in the east, the war machine of Scorpion once again rumbles in the west and in the south, a new enemy arrives. One that does not seek to own or enslave their bodies. This enemy wants nothing less than their souls.
The Earth Mother reaches out to her champions to bring their all to the battle. She also reveals the past to the Clans and shows Fire who she truly is.
When the last song is sung...when the last word is written...when the final tale is told...
will the world remember the Clans?
In the darkest part of the Wraithwood, the vampire Queen Alkashara paced in her room. The world around her was feeling closed in and confined as of late. Something was in the wind and she could feel it coming straight for her. She searched her thoughts, allowing them to go far beyond her present time, as far back as she could remember.
“The book has been found,” said Eleowyn from the balcony. “The times are coming and I wonder if we are prepared.”
“Can anybody ever be prepared for an event like this?” answered the vampiress. “The last time it happened, none of us were prepared and yet we survived.”
The elven huntress took a seat by the door that led to the balcony and sighed. She no longer had the same look as she had when they both stood with Fire so many years ago. Her face was now careworn and within the last few months, it took on a pallor of weariness.
“Vesper says we cannot stop what will happen,” she sighed. “I want to disagree with him, but as the time draws nearer, I find I cannot."
